EXHIBITION PROJECTS
Contemporary art exhibitions
The Finnish Union of Fine Arts Organizations has been known especially for its national annual exhibitions, which the association organized from the beginning of its operations in art museums and other central exhibition spaces across Finland until 2018. In 2025, the union began developing a new triennial exhibition concept, organized with the help of project grants, which will be organized for the first time in 2027. The Poleeni Cultural Center in Pieksämäki has been reserved as the exhibition venue. The location for the triennial to be organized in 2030 has also been discussed, and the Kemi Art Museum has been tentatively selected as the venue.
Gallery SEINÄ
In 2014-2025, Galleriy SEINÄ was the window gallery of the Finnish Union of Fine Arts along Mannerheimintie in Töölö, Helsinki. The gallery presented works by artists from the union's member communities, offering a wide range of paintings, graphics, sculptures, photography and media art from different parts of Finland. The exhibitions attracted the attention of thousands of people every day thanks to the busy Mannerheimintie and nearby public transport stops. In 2025, the union will explore new concepts and locations for starting new gallery activities.
Visual Arts Festival
The Finnish Union of Visual Arts Organisations organised the Juhlat/Bileet/Party/Fest/Hïeje visual arts festival in autumn 2018 as part of its 80th anniversary. The festival attracted over 6,500 visitors at its main venues, the Joensuu Art Museum in Onni, the Ahjo Art Centre and the Kohina Gallery. The aim is to develop the festival concept and possibly repeat it in the future, if the union's financial resources allow.
